The Company’s Establishment Background and Present State The Company’s Establishment Background and Present State

Japan Motor Terminal Co., Ltd. was established in July 1965 as a “statutory corporation” based on the “Japan Motor Terminal Company Act.” The purpose of establishment was to set up and manage public truck terminals in the outer circumference areas of large cities, in order to rationalize increasing Logistics and contribute to improved traffic flows and urban functions.

For more than 40 years since then, our company has built, and we have managed, four public truck terminals which serve as the base of a nationwide Logistics network, in the outer circumference areas of Tokyo.

The efficacy of the establishment of truck terminals has been remarkable, and our management foundation has strengthened every year. In April 1985, the “Japan Motor Terminal Company Act” was abolished, and our company was placed under private management, thus making a new start.

In recent years, Logistics in Japan has been significantly changing, such as “just-in-time” and “more-frequent, smaller-amount” delivery, and the growth of consumer distribution represented by door-to-door courier delivery service. We will respond to your expectations by tackling new projects that meet such changes in Logistics, while remaining centered on truck terminal operations, which are of a highly public nature, and through enrichment of high-standard service.

Truck terminals must be located in accordance with respective directions, taking into consideration factors as the loop roads surrounding Tokyo, highways that connect to the roads, and the planned construction of Logistics centers. Our company presently operates the Keihin Truck Terminal (382 berths, in use since June 1968) in the south district, the Itabashi Truck Terminal (240 berths, October 1970) in the northwest district, the Adachi Truck Terminal (320 berths, April 1977) in the north district, and the Kasai Truck Terminal (357 berths, April 1983) in the east district.
